From May 23rd to June 11th, 2025, stars of the art and culture scene will once again be giving each other their hands in Klagenfurt. The fifth edition of the renowned “Klagenfurt Festival” once again offers a variety of extraordinary cultural events that are worth seeing and experiencing. And in a density that is extraordinary. International acts like the music performer „Bonaparte“ or the celebrated Dutch singer „Kovacs“ come to Klagenfurt just like the acting greats Lars Eidinger, Bibiana Beglau, Ben Becker or Philipp Hochmair. Also taking part are the cult band “Soap&Skin”, “Clara Luzia” and pop writer Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre. The Musicbanda Franui with Nicholas Ofczarek performs in the city theater, in the Klagenfurt Dom Ben Becker.
This year’s program also addresses the political issues of the time: the „Tiger Lillies“ respond to the current wars with their adaptation of Karl Kraus’ “The Last Days of Mankind”. „Tagespresse History“ deals satirically with Austrianness, and „Pussy Riot“ show their new version of Riot Days, revised to include current references. The program is supplemented by, among other things, walking concerts, performances by “Sharktank” and “endless wellness” and a reading and a concert by Peter Licht.
Exciting collaborations are also planned for the coming year, including with the “LiTonale”, which takes place on June 13th.
“I am pleased that the Klagenfurt Festival was so well received by the audience and that we can offer a particularly exciting program with many highlights this year.”
says festival director Bernd Liepold-Mosser We look forward to the new edition of the “Klagenfurt Festival”.
The “Klagenfurt Festival” takes place in cooperation with the state capital of Klagenfurt, the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee tourism association and the state of Carinthia. Mayor Christian Scheider is proud and looking forward to the new program: “Klagenfurt is not only a ‘city of encounters’, but has also made a name for itself as a cultural city beyond the country’s borders. The Klagenfurt Festival makes an essential contribution to this.”
In the first few years, the top-class events of the “Klagenfurt Festival” brought visitors from the entire Alps-Adriatic region to the city. That’s nice Helmuth MichelerManaging Director of the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee Tourism Association: “The ‘Klagenfurt Festival’ not only enlivens the pre-season, but is an important building block in positioning Klagenfurt as a young, cosmopolitan city in which culture can be felt in many facets all year round.”
Tourism Chairman Adi Kulterer added: “The outstanding program enables us to launch a strong marketing initiative in spring 2025, with which we will bring additional guests to Klagenfurt. We as Tourismus Klagenfurt will also promote the state capital’s cultural offerings in the spring in sales.”
