APA and Google renew innovation partnership

The cooperation between the Austria Press Agency and the Google News Initiative to support the media industry is entering its second year

Vienna (OTS) Google and the Austria Press Agency (APA) look back on a successful first year of their innovation partnership announced in February 2023. News publishers from both Austria and Germany took part in training programs run by the Google News Initiative (GNI), the “FT Strategies North Star Foundation Program” and the APA-organized and GNI-supported event “The Future of Fact Checking”. took part. KI-Strategie-Training
As part of the partnership, Google is offering a week-long training focused on AI strategy in collaboration with FT Strategies. The AI ​​Foundation Lab is aimed at managers and editors from the news publishing industry who want to define the potential of artificial intelligence for their companies/publishers and integrate it into their corporate strategy. Regain trust in journalism
2024 will be marked by numerous national and international elections. Quality journalism needs reliable, verified data for its reporting. With the further development of the “Data4Content” and “Signals” projects, which were already funded by Google in 2023, the APA is offering Austrian news publishers tools and data feeds that support both large and smaller editorial teams in efficient and professional reporting.

Fact Checking

After a successful event last year with over 300 participants, the event “The Future of Fact Checking” will once again focus on the topic of “disinformation” in the super election year of 2024. A focus is on AI-generated false information and how young target groups in particular can be strengthened in the critical handling of information.
