Vienna (OTS) – Successful collaboration across national borders:
At their annual co-production meeting on Monday, April 29th and Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, the public television broadcasters from Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland – ZDF, ORF and SRF – decided on many new joint projects. Co-productions planned for 2024/2025 include “Der Alte”, “Lena Lorenz” and many other films and series as well as documentary, cultural and entertainment programs.
The program managers from the three broadcasters met – this year in Regensburg – for the 57th time to talk intensively about joint productions. Last year, the co-production volume of the three partners was around 132 million euros. The successful co-productions in 2023 included “Die Chefin”, “Der Bergdoktor”, “Die Helene Fischer Show”, “Das Wunder DU” and many others.
“In this strong alliance, we are united by our enthusiasm for good programming. The fact that at the annual co-production conference together with ORF and SRF, in addition to the diverse program plans, we can also discuss the current challenges of the media industry, the needs of the target groups and platform strategies, enriches our work and our offerings. Viewers can look forward to many program highlights in the coming years,” said ZDF program director Dr. Nadine Bilke.
ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz: “In economically challenging times, strategic partnerships are crucial. With ZDF and SRF we have strong public service partners. Together we offer our audience numerous program highlights that we would not be able to realize to this extent without this alliance.”
SRF director Nathalie Wappler: “The media industry is undergoing rapid change: digital transformation presents all broadcasters with the same challenges. In order to cope with this, the exchange of experiences with our partner broadcasters in Germany and Austria is immensely valuable. This gives our partnership with ZDF and ORF a new dimension in addition to the successful cooperation in program development that has been established for many decades.”
The co-production conference between ORF, SRF and ZDF has taken place annually since 1967. The aim of the collaboration across borders and genres is to jointly produce productions with strong relevance for the German-speaking region.
