Designing health yourself – according to the motto of around 160 young people from Rudolfsheim -Fünfhaus, who presented their ideas and projects for more health and well -being in everyday life at the youth health conference of the Vienna Health Promotion. “It is remarkable with how much commitment and creativity the young people approach the topic of health. The conference offers you an important stage to make your needs visible,” said Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Vienna Health Promotion – WIG. Dietmar Baurecht, district leader of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, was also enthusiastic about the lively participation of schools and youth facilities from the 15th district: “The youth health conference gored the opportunity to get involved and become active themselves-this is exactly what was impressive here.”
Have a say and help shape
The aim of the youth health conference was to sensitize adults to the realities and needs of young people. 160 young people from the 15th district have thought about what health means for them in the run -up to the conference. With the support of educators and youth workers, you have worked out your ideas about several weeks. The presentation of the ideas was the end and at the same time the highlight for the participants of the youth health conference. It showed impressively: if young people have the opportunity to help shape, creative projects are created. From relaxation techniques for body and soul, noise course, football workshops, Jiu-Jitsu, first aid training, to a sleep and sugar quiz to healthy social media use-all of these elaborated topics show how diverse health can be.
About the project
The youth health conference is the Viennese model for participatory youth health promotion and a project of the Vienna Health Promotion- WIG, with the implementation of which the Institute for Women’s and Men’s Health / FEM and LANDAUPICH. Culture and social research are commissioned. The project is financed from the pension funds of the Federal Health Agency.
