The WZ today presented its new voter mobilization campaign under the motto “It counts that you vote”. This campaign sends a clear signal for democratic participation and aims to persuade the WZ core target group to cast their vote in the coming elections.
On platforms such as Instagram or Twitch and in podcasts, young people in particular should be reached and motivated to vote in order to counteract falling voter turnout.
“Participation in elections is the foundation of our democracy,” emphasizes Martin Fleischhacker, managing director of the Wiener Zeitung media group and publisher of the WZ. “As a public service medium, we have a responsibility to point out the importance of voting and to motivate the population to actively participate in shaping the future. With this campaign we would like to make a positive contribution to increasing voter turnout.”
In addition to the advertising approach, the campaign is accompanied by editorial content. The WZ offers its readers well-founded background reports, analyzes and articles on the topic of elections in order to deepen their understanding of democratic processes.
Katharina Schmidt, editor-in-chief of the WZ, emphasizes the central role of editorial support: “Elections are the heart of every democracy, and as a medium we see it as our task to actively contribute to political education. That’s why in this campaign we place particular emphasis on well-founded and in-depth editorial content in order not only to inform our readers, but also to encourage them to actively participate in the democratic process.”
The “It Matters That You Vote” campaign starts now and will continue until Election Day. Through this initiative, the WZ hopes to strengthen voter participation and promote awareness of the importance of democratic participation.
