The first forum of the Sustainable Markets Initiative China will bring CEOs, innovators and high -ranking government officials into a dialogue about the global efforts to bring together sustainable change and show progress in innovations, investments and measures in China
From July 15th to 17th, a groundbreaking international forum will take place in Beijing, which aims to accelerate the global transition to sustainability, and take part in the CEO of the world’s leading companies as well as high -ranking Chinese CEO and leading government officials. It will be the first time that global and Chinese CEOs in China come together under the Smi banner in order to participate directly in the development of solutions and the acceleration of measures to support global change.
The Sustainable Markets Initiative China Forumthe first event of this kind in China, is jointly Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) and the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) aligned. In view of the decisive role of China in the global economy, its increasing leadership role in the areas of climate and biodiversity and the networked reality of global supply chains, the Smi China Forum offers a unique meeting at CEO level for dialogue and measures for sustainable innovation and global cooperation.
The forum finds at the same time as the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) instead, on the China’s worldwide leadership role in the area of clean energy is emphasized. As President Xi Jinping found in a speech on the topic of climate in April 2025, China has built up the world’s largest and fastest growing system for renewable energies as well as the largest and most complete industrial chain for new energies.
The Sustainable Markets Initiative was in 2020 by His Majesty King Charles III – Then the Prince of Wales created. Today, it is the world’s leading organization of the private sector for sustainable change by promoting measures between leading politicians and CEOs to put sustainability at the center of the added value. This way, the SMI wants to mobilize the trillions of dollars that are necessary for a sustainable future and a new era of global prosperity that will exist over generations.
In October 2021, President Xi Jinping His Majesty King Charles III invited to speak as Prince of Wales at COP 15 Un Biodiversity Conference in Kunming and founding the Smi China Council. In August 2022, the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) was part of an opening ceremony, at which HIS Majesty, The Prince of Wales, participating virtually, to the official host of the China Council of the Sustainable Market Initiative.
Through the Smi China Council, the SMI has deepened its cross-sector relationships with win-win partnerships. The Smi China Council currently has working groups for the areas of Health, Energy, Carbon Capture and Storage, Water & Sustainable Finance.
In round table discussions during the upcoming forum, urgent topics such as sustainable supply chains, emission reduction, electrification, artificial intelligence and the future of aerospace are treated.

In his speech at the UN Biodiversity Conference COP 15 in Kunming, his Majesty said as Prince of Wales: “Chinese culture has long understood that our relationship to nature is crucial for our own health and that of our surroundings. In his speech on the climate on April 23, 2025, President Xi Jinping said: “Clear waters and green mountains are just as valuable as gold and silver. The green transformation is not only the crucial way to deal with climate change, but also a new engine for economic and social development. “(1)
