It has been 55 years since Irmtraut Karlsson first called for the abolition of Section 144 and thus women’s self-determination over their bodies at the SPÖ Federal Women’s Conference in Vienna. With its elimination as part of the major criminal law reform in 1974/75, the so-called “psycho boom” also began. Healthy people should be provided with professional counseling services for the first time in difficult life situations. That was also the starting signal for Prof. Dr. Rotraut A. Perner and Mag. Elisabeth Heller to establish the specialist group of life and social advisors within the framework of the Chamber of Commerce.
