“The Austrian economy now needs strong interest representation. Central location issues – from energy to the labor shortage to the urgently needed reduction in bureaucracy – must be addressed. How we set the course now will be crucial for the business location. I am therefore pleased that Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer will take up the position as Secretary General of the Austrian Economic Chamber from January 1, 2025, whose many years of experience, organizational skills, creativity and strategic vision will continue to position and develop the WKÖ as a modern, efficient, powerful organization in the future “says Harald Mahrer, President of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ). Especially in view of the enormous challenges that the entire location is facing, there is a need more than ever for a strong, unmistakable voice of business that stands firmly at the side of its members as a reliable interest group. “I wish Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer much success in his new task and look forward to working together,” said Mahrer.
“The key questions for our society and our prosperity are Austria’s competitiveness and, in particular, demographic change for our labor market. Austria therefore needs a comeback of performance and growth. The Austrian Economic Chamber plays a central role with its expertise and assertiveness. It is therefore a wonderful task and opportunity as Secretary General of the WKÖ to advocate for more performance-friendliness and competitiveness. “I look forward to this responsibility in our commitment to Austrian entrepreneurship and all of our lives together,” said Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.
The WKÖ President finally expressed “special thanks and the highest recognition and appreciation to the outgoing Secretary General Karlheinz Kopf for his tireless, successful commitment over the past six years”. Kopf has significantly shaped the WKÖ as an organization, constantly developed it further and is now handing over to his successor an excellently positioned company that is ideally prepared for the challenges of the future. “I am all the more pleased that Karlheinz will remain the head of the Chamber of Commerce family and that Vorarlberg as a business location will benefit from his experience and expertise in the future. I also wish him much success in his new role as President of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce,” said Mahrer. (PWK001/RA)
