Vienna (OTS) – Cogvis, the manufacturer of digital care solutions from Vienna, is focusing on raising awareness around the topic of privacy and data protection on the occasion of European Data Protection Day on January 28th. “Especially in the area of digital assistance systems, it is time to provide information about the technologies used and how they handle personal data
CEO Dr. Rainer Planinc.
cogvis does not use a camera to collect data, but rather relies on infrared technology. Using an infrared projector, a defined dot matrix is projected into the room, which is not perceptible to the human eye. This pattern is converted into spatial coordinates by a processor. This creates depth data of the room. The visualization of this depth data is done in grayscale and creates a representation in which no person can be identified. This means that no personal reference can be established and the privacy of residents and patients is maximally protected.
Privacy comes first
The cogvisAI 3D smart sensor stands for privacy by design. This means that data protection and privacy are the focus during product development. The neural networks of the AI architecture are designed and trained internally by cogvis, making cogvisAI independent of third-party providers. Thanks to innovative data processing and optimized system architecture, cogvisAI is the fastest and safest AI care system on the market.
To ensure the highest data protection standards in Europe, the system is regularly checked by an external data protection officer. Priv. Doc. Dr. Martin Kampel specializes in interdisciplinary issues in practical computer science, especially visual computing and artificial intelligence, as well as ethics and digital transformation.
“As an external data protection officer, my goal is to optimally protect cogvis’ data in accordance with applicable data protection regulations. My commitment is to the security and integrity of customers and employees and to ensuring responsible handling of data in the organization
“, said Dr. Kampel.
