Krems ad Donau (OTS) – With the “Austrian Graphics Competition” in 1970, 1973 and 1976, Krems became an important center for modern graphic art. The award winners included artists such as Linde Waber, Peter Pongratz, Roman Scheidl and Erich Steininger.
On the initiative of the cultural office of the city of Krems, the graphic competitions of the 1970s are being revived in a contemporary form and as Erich Grabner Prize for artistic graphics from the city of Krems advertised.

Erich Grabner, former mayor of the city of Krems, made a significant contribution to the positive cultural development of the city of Krems with his deep understanding of art and culture. The art prize named after him includes various categories that are awarded in cooperation with the state of Lower Austria, the Rotary Club Krems-Wachau, friends of the Grabner family and the Göttweig Abbey.
Open Call: March 25th to April 22nd, 2024
Artists residing in Austria are invited to present their graphic works online paper-unlimited.at to submit.
The jury is ALBERTINA chief curator Elisabeth Dutz, curator and cultural manager Alexandra Grausam, the scientific director of the Lower Austrian collection for art after 1960 Alexandra Schantl, the director of Phileas Vienna Jasper Sharp, the artistic director of the Kunsthalle Krems Florian Steininger and the director of kremskultur and museumkrems Gregor Kremser have a top-class staff.
Under the title paper unlimited. The works selected by the jury will be shown in the museumkrems from September 21st. Visitors have the opportunity to help determine the audience award. The finalist projects will be honored at the celebratory gala on November 14, 2024 in the Dominican Church in Krems.
