Vienna (OTS) In addition to the musical highlights, special summer series will also be on Ö1’s program from July. The spectrum ranges from the “Ö1 Popmuseum” to “Austrian Folk Musical Landscapes” or “Summer Forays – Exploring Europe” to “100 Years of Radio”.

From June 30th to September 1st, “Great titles – strong pieces” can be heard on Sundays at 1:10 p.m. – a classical concert with classical hits. The “Ö1 Popmuseum” begins on July 2nd on the “Soundtracks” date (Tuesday, 4:05 p.m.). Curator Wolfgang Kos presents “News from the Past” in eight episodes. “On the back of retro as a forward lane of pop music” is the opening theme, music from The Beatles, Roxy Music, Ruben and the Jets, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Oasis, Van Morrison, Tricky and others can be heard. The other episodes in July: Björk (July 9), Wim Wender’s enthusiasm for music (July 16), Killing Me Softly (July 23) and Randy Newman, political scientist (July 30).

“Austrian Folk Musical Landscapes” with a focus on the work of Austrian folk song works will be presented in nine episodes on Fridays from July 5th at the “Intrada” date (10:05 a.m.). From July 6th, the ORF RSO Vienna music education podcast “Why Classic?” will be on the program every Saturday from 11:40 a.m. The first episode is about “Musical Memes”. “Literature in Ö1” can be heard on Sundays from 6:15 p.m. on the “back room” date from July 7th. In the first episode, Wolfram Berger reads from Erich Kästner’s book “Life is always life-threatening”. In “Pasticcio” (Mon-Fri, 8:20 a.m., Sat., 8:15 a.m.), musicians from Austria and Europe can be heard as guest presenters at irregular intervals, such as the pianists Maria Radutu and Dora Deliyska and the violinist Vahid Khadem -Missagh or the pianist Stefan Mendl.

From July 14th, the “Ex libris – Summer Talks” can be heard every Sunday from 4 p.m. Dialogue as a basic democratic principle is the common thread of the seven conversations, each of which focuses on an author. The “Ö1 Talent Exchange” will again be presenting up-and-coming artists from July 29th (Mon-Fri, 7:53 a.m.). “Subject: History” (Mon-Fri, 3:55 p.m.) is dedicated to the topic “100 Years of Radio in Austria” every first week of the month from August to December.
