In no other season is there such a hustle and bustle in the vineyards and cellars as in the wine autumn. No wonder, because in the six wine-growing regions along the Danube, wine autumn arrives with wine festivals, wine baptisms, wine hikes and open cellar doors.
The six wine regions along the Danube are all about wine autumn from September to November. But it’s not just wine lovers who get their money’s worth at the autumn wine events. The Danube region shows its most beautiful side on hikes through the colorful wine landscape. Anyone who would like to lend a hand and help with the grape harvest has the opportunity to do so in October. You can also learn interesting facts about wine directly from the winemaker. Of course, the traditional wine tastings, harvest festivals and open cellar doors should not be missing from the diverse wine autumn program.
“The Danube region, with its different wine regions, offers a variety of vinophile and culinary delights. From the Grüner Veltliner, the main grape variety in the Wachau, or the Roter Veltliner on the Wagram, to the powerful red wines in the Carnuntum region, wine lovers are offered a wealth of fine wines. “At the time of wine autumn, the focus is once again on the diversity of the wine regions,” invites Bernhard Schröder, Managing Director of Donau Niederösterreich Tourismus GmbH to celebrate the wine autumn along the Danube.
