Wind power – curse or blessing?

“A place with the word” with Werner Fetz on Thursday, March 7, 2024, 6:05 p.m. on Radio Niederösterreich

St. Pölten (OTS) What motivates the people of Lower Austria? The topic of wind power is currently in the Waldviertel. Shortly before the referendums in five municipalities, Radio Niederösterreich invites you to a live discussion: “Wind power – a curse or a blessing?”

The background is the debates surrounding several wind power projects in the Waldviertel. In the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in the Waldviertel, a total of 18 wind turbines are to be built in the communities of Waidhofen an der Thaya, Groß-Siegharts, Waidhofen an der Thaya-Land, Thaya and Karlstein. Divided into three wind farms, wind turbines with a total height of 260 meters are to be built. But there is great resistance among the population – there are several citizens’ initiatives. On March 10, referendums will be held in the five affected communities. Before that, we want to bring all opinions to the table and inform them about the different points of view. All interested parties are invited to join the discussion on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 6 p.m. in the Kaminstube – Gasthaus Zlabinger (Waidhofner Straße 3, 3900 Schwarzenau).

Those speaking include Arnold Kainz, head of project development at WEB, Stefan Moidl, managing director of IG Waldviertel, the representatives of three citizens’ initiatives that are against the projects and Thomas Hansmann, the Lower Austrian environmental lawyer.

Large discussion group shortly before the referendums

On March 10th, more than 10,000 people in the Waldviertel can vote on the construction of wind turbines. Due to the topicality, Radio Niederösterreich invites you to a live discussion shortly before the referendums in order to show the different points of view, exchange opinions and provide information about pros and cons.

The discussion can be heard live on Radio NÖ on March 7th from 6:05 p.m. and can also be seen in the live stream on noe.ORF.at. All details – including how you can join in the discussion in Schwarzenau – can be found on the ORF Niederösterreich homepage at noe.ORF.at. We are discussing the topic in the Waldviertel: “Wind power – a curse or a blessing?” – live in Schwarzenau and on Radio Niederösterreich.
