AUVA Linz regional office recognizes outstanding achievements by caring relatives
Linz/Vienna (OTS) – Wilbirg Prohaska from Mühlviertel has been caring for her husband Gerhard for twelve years, who suffered serious injuries in an accident at work and has needed round-the-clock care ever since.
Thanks to their loving care and support, Mr. Prohaska is able to spend his life at home and participate in family life. “I hope that our story can encourage others who may be in a similar situation. I am grateful to AUVA for their support and am pleased about this award. It’s a nice feeling that my efforts are valued”
says Wilbirg Prohaska.
After the carpenter’s work accident in February 2012, AUVA provided medical care at the UKH Linz for several months as well as numerous rehabilitation stays and supported him with financial benefits. For example, the conversion of the home that was then under construction to make it accessible to disabled people was supported, as was the purchase or adaptation of a car suitable for disabled people. The costs for aids as well as speech therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy treatment are still covered or subsidized by the AUVA on an ongoing basis.
“Despite comprehensive prevention offers from AUVA and intensive efforts by companies through training and qualification measures, unfortunately, even serious accidents at work cannot always be prevented. “We can then provide quick and uncomplicated support with services from a single source – from medical treatment to rehabilitation to financial help – and thus alleviate some of the human suffering.”
says Maria Lesterl, director of the AUVA regional office in Upper Austria.
“The AUVA and the Linzer UKH are always there when you need them. This not only benefits the affected accident victims and their families, but also the Upper Austrian companies, which are released from liability. Our recognition and thanks go to Ms. Prohaska and her family, but also to everyone else who sacrificially cares for their relatives at home. With the AUVA care award we would also like to remind people how much good things happen here ‘in secret’ and what great relief this means for the state care system, which is already under pressure.”
adds Erhard Prugger, chairman of the state agency committee.
The 2024 nursing award was presented by the chairman of the state placement committee, Dr. Erhard Prugger and Mag.a Maria Lesterl, director of the Linz regional office. In addition, the Chamber of Labor and the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce provided leisure and shopping vouchers.
