Wiener Zeitung launches new print magazine for young adults

Vienna (OTS) On June 17, 2024, the Wiener Zeitung media group will launch a new print magazine aimed at young adults between the ages of 18 and 28. The magazine aims to promote democracy education by informing, sensitizing and encouraging young citizens to actively participate in the democratic process. With a mixture of interviews, reports and background reports, the magazine offers comprehensive insights into political and social developments in Austria.

Katharina Schmidt, editor-in-chief of the Wiener Zeitung, explains: “With this publication, we want to offer young people a timeless magazine that will remain relevant in terms of content for many years to come and is not limited to current reporting or comments. Each issue has a main topic and is based on the topics that interest our readers.

Aleksandra Tulej, deputy editor-in-chief and responsible for the content of the first issue, adds: “Our magazine is dedicated to questions such as: Why should I even vote? What can my voice achieve? How do I make informed decisions? We shed light on different realities of life, from first-time voters to those who grew up without democratic elections. Our goal is to communicate on an equal level without judging or lecturing.

The first issue comprises almost 70 pages and is characterized by creative design and innovative content. The graphic concept was developed by the En Garde agency. Matthias Platzer, managing director of En Garde, says: “Generation Z is often underestimated. In order to learn from it – and the potential is great – you have to take it seriously. While everything is becoming more and more perfect and precise, GenZ is again demanding authentic content instead of just flawless forms. That’s exactly what the new WZ magazine offers.

With this new magazine, the Wiener Zeitung is taking an important step towards promoting the political education of young people in Austria – in addition to its digital channels, now also in print several times a year“, says Managing Director Martin Fleischhacker happily.

With a circulation of 35,000 copies, the magazine is distributed throughout Austria at universities, technical colleges and in student dormitories. In addition, targeted distribution takes place in over 200 restaurants throughout Austria. The magazine will also soon be available via selected stands. It is available online as a PDF download www.wienerzeitung.at/magazin available.
