Peter Weinelt new general director, Monika Unterholzner and Roman Fuchs new as deputies – Hanke: Tailwind for future program
Vienna (OTS) – Wiener Stadtwerke started the new year with a newly positioned top management under General Director Peter Weinelt (57). Two experienced managers, Monika Unterholzner (57) and Roman Fuchs (53), support him as deputy general managers. Peter Hanke, City Councilor for Economics, Finance and Vienna Public Utilities, puts his full trust in the management trio, combined with a clear mandate: “The most important thing is to offer the citizens the best city, the most livable city. This is how I will measure the new management in the future. Our priority must be absolute service, citizen and customer orientation.

Full support for the new management team also comes from the chairman of the supervisory board, municipal director Dietmar Griebler: “The Wiener Stadtwerke with its new management team must set a shining example in order to carry out the comprehensive restructuring of the city towards climate neutrality. What’s more, the conversion must begin with the Wiener Stadtwerke itself. For this to succeed, we must speak with one voice and implement a closely coordinated strategy together.

Top energy manager at the top: Peter Weinelt
As of January 1, 2024, Peter Weinelt will direct the fortunes of Wiener Stadtwerke as General Director and will be responsible for the areas of energy, networks and human resources. He has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry and on numerous supervisory boards. After studying energy technology at the Vienna University of Technology, he started his career at Wienstrom/Wien Energie Stromnetz, where he worked as managing director from 2006 to 2012. A few stages in his career, Weinelt became CEO of Wiener Netze in 2016. From 2018 to 2023 he was Deputy General Director of Wiener Stadtwerke. The passionate mountain runner is married and the father of three children.
From mobility to innovation: Monika Unterholzner
Since the beginning of the year, Monika Unterholzner has been responsible for the areas of mobility, funerals, cemeteries, IT and innovation as deputy general director of Wiener Stadtwerke. The experienced manager with a focus on mobility and logistics successfully managed several group companies. Unterholzner studied commercial science at the WU Vienna and started her career in the European Commission in the early 1990s. From 1995 to 2010 she worked in several positions at the Vienna Business Agency. In 2010, Unterholzner moved to the Port of Vienna as an authorized representative. In 2013 she finally joined the Wiener Stadtwerke Group, where she was responsible for the commercial affairs of WIPARK Garagen GmbH for four years. From 2017 to 2023, the manager led Wiener Lokalbahnen GmbH. Unterholzner is married and mother of two daughters. She finds balance in her often demanding everyday working life with extended excursions into nature.
Proven financial expert takes over: Roman Fuchs
As deputy general director of Wiener Stadtwerke, Roman Fuchs is responsible for the areas of finance, real estate and legal affairs. Fuchs is a proven financial expert with an extensive career in the financial industry. The business economist began his career at CA-Leasing, where he worked from 1998 to 2001. He then moved to Macquarie Bank Ltd. in London, Frankfurt and Vienna. In 2009 he joined Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG. From 2014, the financial expert headed the corporate finance department. From 2017 to 2023 he was sole managing director of WIPARK Garagen GmbH. Roman Fuchs is married, has one child and is a passionate mountaineer.
