It is a real joy to see how successfully the concept was accepted by the Viennese and it has grown over the years. In the meantime, over 1,500 Viennese are literally in the truest sense of the word.
Success story “moving pharmacy” continues
Already 49 Viennese pharmacies in 20 Viennese municipal districts are actively participating in the project. Over 50 Nordic walking groups have been created and walking regularly and in almost any weather together-with a steadily growing number of participants. The goal of Vienna’s health promotion – WIG is to further expand the project and make it accessible for all Viennese. The concept is simple and effective: Every week, the WIG and the participating pharmacies for their customers – as well as all interested parties in the respective district – offer one hour together Nordic walking under the direction of experienced trainers. The best thing about it: the offer is free of charge and open to newcomers at any time. The special thing about Nordic walking is its versatility, because it is suitable for everyone, for beginners as well as passionate athletes. The “Moving Pharmacy” project is financed by the State Health Promotion Fund (LGFF), which was established by the Social Insurance and the City of Vienna as part of the health care reform.
