Werner Trenker, owner of MED TRUST, receives the “viennaARTaward” 2024

March/Vienna (OTS) –

Werner Trenker founded the international medical products group MED TRUST in 1997. The family company based in Marz, Burgenland, has 12 branches in Europe and sells its medical products through distributors in over 80 countries worldwide.

The products are sold under the Wellion brand and are recognized by the distinctive design for which different visual artists are responsible.

MED TRUST has received numerous awards, such as the “Austrian Leading Companies” award in the “internationally active companies” category, the Innovation Award of the State of Burgenland, or the award for the best family business in Burgenland. Werner Trenker received the award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 in the retail and consumer goods category.

Trenker has been a passionate art collector for around 15 years. The Werner Trenker Collection includes renowned Austrian positions such as Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Markus Prachensky and many more. As an internationally active entrepreneur, Trenker assumes his social and societal responsibility, primarily by supporting Austrian artists, but also through active national and international exhibitions of his collection. Making the Werner Trenker private collection accessible to the general public is particularly important to the entrepreneur because he also wants to enable others to enjoy art.

Among other things, the work “Himmelsleiter”, by the artist Billi Thanner, which represents a symbol for peace, was given to the Museum St. Peter an dersperre as a permanent loan and now shines on the profaned church building in Wiener Neustadt. Also thanks to generous loans from the Werner Trenker Collection, an extensive exhibition by Hermann Nitsch entitled “Colour World” was shown in St. Peter an dersperre. In cooperation with the Nitsch Foundation, the exhibition “Tribute of Colors” by Hermann Nitsch is currently on view at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava.

In March 2025, an exhibition of works by Hannes Mlenek entitled “Medusa in the Mirror of Time” will take place at the Künstlerhaus Vienna. In autumn 2025, the Werner Trenker Collection, in cooperation with Ms. Brigitte Prachensky, made a retrospective Markus Prachensky “A Painter’s Life in Red” in the Museum St. Peter an dersperr, Wiener Neustadt. Further projects and exhibitions with artists are already being planned.

Werner Trenker is very pleased to have been awarded the “viennaARTaward” 2024, an award given by the Vienna State Committee for the Art Trade of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.
