Werner Kogler on the death of John Sailer
Vienna (OTS) –

“John Sailer was a formative figure of the Austrian art scene and a tireless sponsor of the avant -garde,” the club chairman and cultural spokesman for the Greens, Werner Kogler, reacts to the current death of the Viennese gallery owner.

In 1974 Sailer founded the Ulysses gallery, which quickly became an important center for modern art. With exhibitions by artists such as Bruno Gironcoli, Arnulf Rainer and Fritz Wotruba, he set standards and brought Austrian art internationally. His commitment extended far beyond gallery work – he was a bridge builder between cultures and a passionate mediator between Austria and the international art world.

“John Sailer was a cultural pioneer, whose life was shaped by flight, fresh start and unshakable passion for art. His work will be preserved as a lasting legacy. We speak to his family, his friends and everyone who has worked with him,” said Kogler.
