Vienna (OTS) – Wikileaks founder and exposer Julian Assange has been living without freedom for twelve years: after seven years of asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, he has been in British detention pending extradition for almost five years. The Supreme Court in London is still waiting to decide whether to allow his final appeal against extradition. Julian Assange exposed US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan on his disclosure platform Wikileaks. The USA accuses him of endangering national security. If extradited, he faces 175 years in prison. The “WELTjournal” shows how the unconventional exposer Julian Assange was branded one of the most dangerous opponents by the USA and other Western governments, and what a high price the now 52-year-old is paying for his attitude. Human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders are calling for his release. They criticize that the criminalization of the Wikileaks founder puts freedom of the press and information at stake.
