Vienna (OTS) – He is the shooting star of the extreme right and would like to become France’s Prime Minister in the new elections in July: Jordan Bardella, 28-year-old party leader of the Rassemblement National, political foster son of Marine Le Pen. Under Jordan Bardella’s leadership, the Rassemblement National just achieved the best European election result in its history, winning twice as many votes as President Macron’s governing alliance at 31 percent. The “WELTjournal” shows a portrait of Bardella, who joined the RN’s predecessor party, the Front National of the notorious Holocaust denier Jean-Marie Le Pen, at the age of 16. Bardella herself comes from an immigrant family with roots in Italy and Algeria. He has given the Rassemblement National a young, more serious image, while at the same time he is continuing Marine Le Pen’s course: externally, the RN is more moderate in order to reach new centrist voters; in terms of content, Bardella is relying on a tough border and migration policy the French’s fears of social decline.

In some cities in France and in the greater Paris area, violent conflicts between youth gangs are increasing dramatically. It’s not just fights, dangerous weapons such as iron bats, knives and fireworks mortars are also used. The turf wars sometimes end in death; the youngest fatality so far was just 14 years old. “WELTjournal +” accompanies the French rapper Adama Camara, who never missed an opportunity to fight as a teenager. He comes from a neighborhood that was characterized by poverty, unemployment and a lack of prospects and in which violence and gang wars were the order of the day. Today he is involved in youth work and tries to use his own life story to convince teenagers to take a different path.
