Wels became the city of gardens in 2027 – with Austria’s largest state garden show in the middle of urban areas. From April to September 2027, visitors can expect an experience on 22 hectares with six garden worlds, connected by five central locations and 174 event days. With the Stadtgartenhaus – as the headquarters for the team of the State Garden Show Wels 2027 – the city of gardens now has a strong permanent presence directly at the Wels town square. The OÖ Landesgartenschau 2027 stages urban gardens in Wels and sees itself as a sustainable show project for modern urban development.
The heart of the city of the gardens are the six redesigned garden worlds: from the Volksgarten to the animal and castle garden to the city garden, traung species and forest garden. Each of these gardens fulfills its own function, but only in their interaction becomes visible, which makes Wels special – a city that transforms diversity into the quality of life. “”There have always been many gardens in Wels. We put them in the limelight and make their diversity visible to everyone. The six garden worlds take on functions that are only possible in one city. Together with five central locations, they connect Wels 2027 to the city of gardens
“, so Dipl.-Ing. Gottfried Struggl, Managing Director Landesgartenschau Wels 2027.
