Women’s health is a complex topic that includes biological, social and social factors. The promotion of the health of women requires targeted measures that focus on the specific phases of life, needs and challenges of women, ”emphasizes FCG federal women’s chairwoman Mag.A Ursula Hafner on the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women’s Health on May 28, 2025.
We FCG women are calling for preventive offers for women-specific health issues and a consistent further development of gender medicine.
Many diseases are different in women than men. A classic example is heart attack: women often show atypical symptoms, which increases the risk of misdiagnoses. Medications can also be different in the female body.
“Modern women’s health takes into account gender -specific differences and is committed to gender -sensitive medicine that neither disadvantaged women nor reduces to supposed” norms “. This is the only way to support and treat women in all phases of life in the best possible way, ”Mag.a Ursula Hafner, who also holds the function as chairman of the chairman of the public service union (GöD).
The implementation of the measures defined in the Women’s Health Action Plan is an important prerequisite for this. Likewise, the data collection must be more geared towards the respective target group in order to enable differentiated analyzes and measures based on it.
“Current research must be checked for gender differences and the data is evaluated separately by gender,” Mag.A Ursula Hafner concludes, “by promoting and promoting gender medicine, health care can be designed more effectively and help to ensure that all people receive the best possible medical care.”
