Supervisory Board approves new CEO as successor to Georg Pölzl
Vienna (OTS) – The Supervisory Board of Österreichische Post AG has appointed Walter Oblin as Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Österreichische Post AG as of October 1, 2024. He succeeds Georg Pölzl, who has been Chairman and General Director of the company since October 1, 2009. With his 15 years of service, Pölzl will be the longest-serving general director of the Austrian Post.
Until he takes over the position of Chairman and General Director, Walter Oblin will remain Deputy General Director and Chief Executive Officer for Letters & Finance.

Walter Oblin has been Chief Financial Officer of Austrian Post since July 1, 2012 and also Deputy General Director since January 1, 2019. He is also responsible for the Letter & Advertising Mail division. His board area includes key management and service functions in the areas of Group Accounting & Controlling, Group Real Estate, Group IT & Purchasing and Group Legal. At bank99, Walter Oblin is also deputy chairman of the supervisory board.

CV Walter Oblin
Walter Oblin was born on May 4, 1969 in Villach and completed a degree in industrial engineering and mechanical engineering at the Graz University of Technology as well as an MBA degree in the USA. He started his professional career in 1994 as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Vienna. In 2000, he was made a partner there and subsequently took on management roles as a member of the Austrian management team and in McKinsey’s global transport and logistics sector. After working at a German CleanTech startup, he joined Österreichische Post AG in autumn 2009 as head of strategy and corporate development. In July 2012, he took on the role of CFO and, at the beginning of 2019, additional responsibility for the Letter & Advertising Mail division.
