“The Wachaubahn flood mode has been put into effect. From Sunday, the train will be operated more intensively and will be available to students, commuters and especially emergency services in the Wachau. This means we can ensure a stable connection between Krems and Emmersdorf by rail,” informs Lower Austria’s Transport State Councilor LH deputy Udo Landbauer.
The Wachaubahn is available free of charge for emergency services such as the fire department, paramedics, armed forces, police and rescue services, and material is also transported free of charge in the Wachaubahn vehicles as far as possible.
“In an emergency, everyone in Lower Austria works together. Hand in hand for our compatriots. I would like to thank the dedicated emergency services who are reliably on site in the most adverse conditions and do a great job to protect the population. The colleagues from NÖVOG, who are immediately available to step up their management of the Wachaubahn, also show the highest level of commitment and reliability,” says Landbauer.
