VPNÖ Zauner: The population urgently needs relief
St. Pölten (OTS) –

The Marcheflder Expressway (S8) was originally supposed to be put into operation in 2013 and thus relieve the communities along the B8 (Raasdorf, Deutsch Wagram, Markgrafneusiedl, Strasshof, Obersiebenbrunn and Gänserndorf) from the massive volume of traffic.

State manager of the Lower Austria People’s Party, Matthias Zauner, emphasizes: “The people in the region rightly expect solutions. One thing is clear to us: the coming federal government must finally tackle the S8 project. The Green Transport Minister has failed to take action here in recent years. Ideological sensitivities do not help the local people and do not change the reality of life for the thousands of Lower Austrians who are stuck in traffic jams every day. The Marchfeld expressway is not only an optimal traffic solution, but also a major benefit for the region from an economic perspective. Good connections create incentives for companies to relocate and sustainably strengthen the location.”

VPNÖ traffic spokesman and member of the state parliament Florian Krumböck concluded: “Every day that the S8 is not built, people lose precious time in their lives. Through five years of inaction, Minister Gewessler has stolen 2.5 weeks of time for family, friends and leisure from commuters. The traffic situation is not only unreasonable and stressful for commuters, but also for the local population, agriculture and all businesses in the region. We need the planned expressway as quickly as possible to bring the region the necessary relief.”
