VPNÖ-Krumböck ad. FPÖ: Sustainable transport policy instead of populist slogans

VPNÖ relies on concrete measures instead of blue sentiment

Sankt Pölten (OTS) “Today the FPÖ is once again showing that its political style is based on uncertainty. While Chancellor Nehammer presents plans for the path to an economically strong future for Austria, the Freedom Party is once again trying to unsettle the population and is putting party politics before factual politics. While the Chancellor is building bridges to the future, today the FPÖ is only concerned with creating potholes in the political debate,” said VPNÖ transport spokesman LAbg. Florian Krumböck in response to FPÖ statements about Chancellor Nehammer’s infrastructure plans.

“As our state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner already explained in the Krone interview, the last few years under the Green Transport Minister were lost years for infrastructure expansion. Well-developed transport routes are the basis for international company settlements and thus for the competitiveness of our location. This applies both to well-developed rail connections throughout the state and to an efficient road network. Because neglected rail and road infrastructure leads to a gradual loss of prosperity, as we also see in Germany,” says Krumböck.

From Lower Austria’s perspective, it is clear that one of the next federal government’s priority tasks must be to eliminate these failures. This is not just about the construction of the S8 and S34, but also the closure of the ring around Vienna with the construction of the S1 and the Lobau tunnel. “Commuters in these regions in particular have suffered long enough from the misguided transport policy, which only produces traffic jams and commuter frustration,” Krumböck continued.

“Chancellor Karl Nehammer is right when he points out that electric cars or green combustion engines will also be needed on roads in the future. Infrastructure is the basis of our future growth, because a modern and efficient infrastructure is essential for Austria as a business location and for the quality of life of Austrians. Recently, the only discussion has been about what won’t be built, instead of creating future-oriented solutions,” says Krumböck, who concludes: “In contrast to the FPÖ, which throws around empty promises, we rely on concrete and sustainable measures concepts. Austrians have a right to a responsible and future-oriented transport policy. With the People’s Party we are on the right track.”
