Vienna (OTS) – Today, May 11, 2024, we commemorate the 100th birthday of Jörg Mauthe, an outstanding personality in the Austrian cultural and political landscape. “Dr. Jörg Mauthe changed the cultural policy of this city and he contributed a lot to the fact that there was a new, innovative cultural life in Vienna,” said state party chairman City Councilor Karl Mahrer.
Born in 1924, Mauthe had a significant influence on intellectual and cultural life in Vienna as a writer, critic and cultural politician. His time with the ÖVP was characterized by visionary ideas and decisive contributions to the political discussion in Austria.
“He was a man you could definitely use as a role model. With a lot of passion and vision, he achieved something that is becoming increasingly rare in politics. He sought collaboration and togetherness. And he always fought for the solution,” concluded Mahrer.
