VP-Korosec: “Patients suffer from massive abuses in Vienna’s hospitals”

Report by the Viennese nursing and patient advocate confirms the dramatic situation in Vienna’s hospitals and nursing homes

Vienna (OTS) In an area as sensitive as healthcare, errors can never be completely prevented. However, some of the cases highlighted by the patient advocacy group are so serious that they need to be examined in detail. Among other things, the patient advocate criticizes the existing staff shortage and also speaks of multi-class medicine.

“The report by the Vienna Nursing, Patient and Patient Advocate for 2023 clearly shows the existing structural deficiencies in the Vienna healthcare network. Unfortunately, there are again cases in which the existing excessive demands on hospital staff have even cost patients their lives. In any case, the criticism of the Viennese patient advocate is clear. In order to remedy these serious deficiencies in the future, City Councilor for Health Hacker must act,” says the health spokeswoman for the Vienna People’s Party, City Councilor Ingrid Korosec, in dismay.

Dismissal management must be professionalized!

There was also great criticism of the city’s dismissal management. The WPPA says that hardship cases can be avoided with forward-looking and professional dismissal management.

“With its criticism, the report aims primarily at what the political work in the Viennese healthcare system is really about: making the best possible medical care available to everyone as quickly as possible. It is clear that the employees in Vienna’s hospitals and retirement homes do a great job under very difficult conditions. However, city councilor Peter Hacker must improve the framework conditions in order to avoid such serious mistakes,” concluded Korosec.
