The Carinthian ÖVP state party chairman and deputy state governor Martin Gruber reacts to the announcement that he wants to approve the renaturation law.
Klagenfurt (OTS) – Martin Gruber, state party chairman of the Carinthian People’s Party and deputy state governor: “Minister Leonore Gewessler herself emphasized in an interview that the statements of the federal states are legally binding for them. If she agrees to the renaturation law in the Council, she will not only show the credibility of her words, but will also trample on applicable law. Anyone who intentionally breaks the law should really consider whether they want and should belong to a federal government. Gewessler acts as a green campaigner against the federal states and, from Carinthia’s perspective, is now finally ready to resign after leaving the states alone in protecting themselves from the wolf, preventing the expansion of the Wernberg junction or the S37 to Friesach and the current torment of farmers. This new bureaucratic monster has serious disadvantages for Carinthia, which is why I remain firmly opposed to the renaturation law, as the state governors, agricultural and nature conservation officers have decided clearly and bindingly. Such ideological experiments on the backs of people and farmers by desk clerks in Vienna and Brussels only sound good as a headline; anyone who deals with the details can only reject them. I in Carinthia will protect our natural agriculture against such a bureaucratic monster.”
