Vienna (OTS) – Incidents of youth violence are increasing in the media. The federal government is acting consistently and has presented its draft law for more measures against juvenile crime. In contrast to Vienna: Here the SPÖ and neos look further away. “The conditions in Vienna are unbearable. Excessive violence among young people at school and in public has reached unprecedented levels. How much still has to happen before the city government finally takes measures?” says youth spokesman, local councilor Harald Zierfuß.
It is not the first time that such problems have occurred at Maurer Hauptplatz in the 23rd district. District party chairman and deputy district leader Patrick Gasselich is concerned: “There was a similar incident at Kirtag two years ago. Large events of this type require special attention and security concepts. The situation surrounding the issue of security must be monitored more closely by all those responsible. This matter needs to be clarified quickly.”
The Vienna People’s Party’s action plan against youth violence is on the table. “SPÖ and neos must not continue to shift responsibility. Instead of expensive individual projects, a bundle of measures is needed, including comprehensive violence prevention at all compulsory schools in Vienna. We demand the implementation of our action plan to combat youth violence!” conclude Zierfuß and Gasselich.
