Recognition awards for Nils Nußbaumer and Carlos Peter Reinelt
Vienna (OTS) – The ninth award ceremony of the “Vorarlberg Culture Prize” took place on the evening of November 27, 2023 as part of a celebratory gala in the Casino Restaurant FALSTAFF in Bregenz. ORF Vorarlberg, the state of Vorarlberg, Casino Bregenz and Dornbirner Sparkasse are jointly responsible for the largest cultural prize in Vorarlberg with a total amount of 15,000 euros. The big winner of this year’s prize is author Linda Achberger. The authors Nils Nußbaumer and Carlos Peter Reinelt received recognition awards.
The international jury with Nicole Dietrich, Veronika Schuchter and Anya Schutzbach evaluated the presenting authors during the pre-selection at the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn and finally determined the prize winner.
Young creative personalities from Vorarlberg
The “Vorarlberg Culture Prize” supports artists in and from Vorarlberg from various art and cultural genres. The category to be awarded is redefined every year. In 2023 the category was short story. In addition to Linda Achberger, Nils Nußbaumer and Carlos Peter Reinelt, Katharina Klein, Valeria Anna Lampert and Max Lang were nominated this year.
Radiant award winners
This year, Linda Achberger was awarded the main prize worth 10,000 euros. In her laudatory speech, juror Anya Schutzbach focused on the very image-intensive, almost film-like composition of the award-winning short story. Nils Nußbaumer and Carlos Peter Reinelt were honored with recognition prizes of 2,500 euros each. Laudator Dr. Winfried Nußbaummüller praised, among other things, the dissolution of genre boundaries in Carlos Peter Reinelt’s short story: “He (Carlos Peter Reinelt) delivers a report that could at the same time be a fairy tale and which he transforms into a performance.” Laudator Dr. Winfried Nußbaummüller that she “would stand up for the potency of the often underestimated short form”:

2024: Drawing category
The Vorarlberg Culture Prize supports innovative formats and genres. Up-and-coming artists should be offered a platform to present their artistic work. The award is given annually, and the art genre to be honored is redefined every year. In 2024, the drawing section will be the next category for the Vorarlberg Culture Prize, as Bernhard Moosbrugger (Director of Casino Bregenz) and Martin Jäger (Board Director of Dornbirner Sparkasse) announced.

International award-winning careers
Linda Achberger, born in Hörbranz in 1992, studied in Innsbruck and at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. She has already received several awards and scholarships. In addition to short stories, Linda Achberger also writes long prose, poems, plays and radio plays. She lives as a copywriter in Leipzig.
Nils Nußbaumer, born in Bregenz in 1991, studied journalism and literary writing. Today he works as a lecturer, among other things, for creative writing at the Weltfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen. In his literary blog “Little Worlds” he pays tribute to the short forms of literature; in addition to short stories, he also writes “shortest stories”. Nils Nußbaumer lives in Bottrop and Langenegg.
Carlos Peter Reinelt, born in Lustenau in 1994, studied German, philosophy and psychology in Salzburg. He spent a total of two years in Tokyo. Carlos Peter Reinelt researches and translates unknown Japanese literature and will work as an assistant professor at Yamaguchi University in Japan from 2024.
