Volkshilfe shocked by the breakdown of coalition negotiations

„The breakdown of the coalition negotiations between the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS is not only a serious blow to the political culture in Austria, but also poses a real risk that a coalition will now emerge between the ÖVP and the right-wing extremist FPÖ“warns Erich Fenninger, director of Volkshilfe Austria.

„The situation in which Austria currently finds itself almost forces state political responsibility, which the three negotiating parties have not fulfilled. And as the head of one of the largest social welfare organizations in Austria, that leaves me more than shocked“Fenninger continued.

“The current challenges – from the social crisis to the climate crisis – require responsibility and a clear course of solidarity. Instead, we are experiencing a political vacuum that is endangering basic democratic values. Volkshilfe stands clearly against any form of politics that promotes exclusion, hatred and social division.
