Sacher: “Changing times require special solidarity”
Vienna (OTS) – The Christmas season opens hearts and is also a time for giving. During this time, many people also think about those around them who are not doing so well. To those who cannot enjoy Christmas markets, bright lights and sparkling splendor because they are preoccupied with worries. People affected by poverty suffer from their situation all year round, but for many, Christmas is particularly stressful because it also involves the costs of at least small things for the children and a meal for the holidays. Many people affected by poverty experience these hardships as particularly humiliating and exclusionary.

It was also a particularly challenging year for the many full-time and volunteer employees of Volkshilfe. “So my thanks also go to the employees who, with their social work, make Austria a little more humane and a little warmer. A tremendous achievement that must be recognized.”
Finally, Sacher states that “in view of the many crises, we can only wish for a better and, above all, more peaceful New Year 2024.”
