It was an evening full of gratitude, recognition and community: On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Volkshilfe Niederösterreich / Service Mensch GmbH honored its long -standing employees and freshly baked pensioners with a festive shipping through the Wachau.
104 jubilees and pensioners and their partners went on board the MS Wachau and enjoyed an atmospheric journey through one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Europe. Accompanied by music, festive atmosphere and culinary enjoyment, the Danube became a stage for those people who have been serving others for many years.
Employees who have been part of the Volkshilf family or have been in well-deserved retirement have been awarded since 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or even 30 years. They were given an anniversary medal, an anniversary medal, a badge of honor and a certificate as a visible sign of thanks by the social-state councilor Eva Prischl, 3rd President Elvira Schmidt, President Prof. Ewald Sacher and Managing Director Gregor Tomschizek.
“Anyone who is there for others with so much heart and responsibility deserves our thank you, because they shape the social climate in Lower Austria,” explains State Councilor Eva Prischl, “as a state councilor, it fulfills me with great gratitude to be able to say thank you personally today.”
“It is a special moment every year when we celebrate those people who have been in use and professionalism for Volkshilfe for many years,” said President Prof. Ewald Sacher, “they are the backbone of our social work.”

“Our qualified health and nursing staff, Ergo- and Physio therapists, care (subject) assistants, home helpers and everyday social attendants make it possible for people to live at home even in old age. The educators and their kids team enables children to grow up in a loving environment and receive people with support from the work & integration,” said Tomschizek managing director. “This is not a matter of course, but daily use for humanity.”
Repriessive Maria Panzenböck-Stockner also referred to the high level of satisfaction in the team, “the results of our current employee survey show that the colleagues experience the Volkshilfe Lower Austria as a fair and appreciative employer, that is very reinforcing us.”
In Service Mensch GmbH, a non -profit daughter of Volkshilfe Lower Austria, over 1,500 people in the areas of mobile care & support, kids & family, work & integration and administration are currently working. The anniversary shipping was a big thank you – for her daily work, your commitment and your heart for others.
