Vienna, April 7, 2025-With a solemn event, the Vienna Social Services are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the home aid training in Vienna. Together with representatives: Inside from politics, training and practice, a job description is recognized that has become an indispensable support in everyday life for many Viennese. The home help enables life to be continued in old age in your own four walls.
City Councilor Peter Hacker emphasizes the central role of home aid in the Vienna Social and Health System: “Vienna has an excellent offer in mobile care and care. The more than 4,300 home helpers: inside who work in our city makes an important contribution. Thanks to their support, many people can stay in their own four walls. This increases the quality of life of those affected and relieves the relatives.”
Training as a home helper has developed massively in the past decades-from a few weeks without an internship in the 1980s to a modern curriculum with around 600 hours of training including two internships in mobile and inpatient areas. This quality training is also made possible by supporting the funding agencies: inside Waff and AMS Vienna, which make access to this training easier for many people.
Professional field as an opportunity for people with diverse biographies

Managing Director Marianne Hengstberger added: “Our goal is to enable as many people as possible – regardless of age, origin or previous professional career – to training and a secure profession. As a large organization, we can move a lot here.”
With around 200 home helpers: Interior per year that completes their training for Viennese social services, the company is now one of the most important training and employment institutions in the field of mobile care and support in Vienna. Many graduates: In the inside, some remain in the company – some even to the pension. A total of 713 home helpers provide far more than practical help in the household and the daily lifestyle – they are also an important social contact and contact: inside. Susanne Winkler, FSW managing director, also congratulates for the 50th anniversary and emphasizes: “Be it with everyday errands, personal care or in the household: home aid is an important offer for around 23,500 of our customers: inside that need support in everyday life. The anniversary is therefore not only a review of 50 years of training history, but also an outlook in a future in which qualified and committed home helpers will continue to play a major role in the care of older people.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the new image film of the elderly and nursing services of Vienna’s social services. This project not only gives authentic insights into our valuable work and the people who fulfill it every day with a lot of commitment – the spot also tells the story of a young woman who feels called to this profession, ”explains Managing Director Marianne Hengstberger. We are particularly proud that in addition to renowned actors: Inside, like Elisabeth Kanettis and chamber actress Cornelius Obonya Bono could be won for this important project – also many employees and clients: In this film project, Ernestine Jasek and Friedrich Pucandl were also welcomed as an actor and were present at the anniversary event.
