In his summary, Greher pointed out the great importance of the Viennese religious hospitals for acute care, for example in the area of ​​the rescue contingent, as well as for so-called elective procedures. In total, the Vienna religious hospitals were able to carry out almost 57,000 operations in 2023 – inpatient, day hospital and outpatient.

Construction projects were also pushed forward in all of Vienna’s religious hospitals in 2023. Greher: “The same applies here: The City of Vienna and the Vienna Health Fund, together with the management of the Viennese religious hospitals, ensure that we can offer our state-of-the-art medical services in a modern, pleasant and homely atmosphere.”

As an example, Greher referred to the completion of the central emergency room (ZNA) in the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy, the general renovation of the Landstrasse location in the Franziskus Hospital, the new inner courtyard extension in the Herz-Jesu Hospital, the completion of an underground car park and a patient therapy garden in the Orthopedic Hospital Speising, the completion of the master plan project in the St. Josef Hospital and the expansion and conversion of the ward in the Göttlicher Heiland Hospital. Furthermore, an additional operating room is currently being built in the Göttlicher Heiland Hospital in order to be able to cover the higher demand for various surgical procedures in the future. Attention was paid to climate and environmental protection in all programs, and multiple certificates and awards in the area of ​​sustainability underline the future security of the Viennese religious hospitals. An example of this is the green facade in the entrance area of ​​the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Vienna.
