The Viennese health promotion – WIG on the garden at school is also based this year: Due to great demand, 50 raised beds are again available as part of the Vienna School fruit program. These can now be applied for by schools in Vienna. “The children are enthusiastic when they maintain the raised beds and gave them a lot about the importance of sustainability and regionality and how well they can be experienced with teachers.
Apply for a raised bed for your school by May 31, 2025 at the latest
As part of the Vienna School fruit program, schools receive everything they need to build up your own raised bed: from materials to earth to the plants. In addition, the schools are supported in planting the raised bed (135cm long x 70cm wide x 60cm high) and receive valuable tips for maintaining and selecting plants. The goal is to grow fresh vegetables and herbs together with the children and to bring them closer to them in a playful way. Vienna public compulsory schools can apply for a raised bed by May 31, 2025 at the latest. Details and information about the application can be found here: Viennese school fruit program.
