Electromobility is increasingly becoming part of everyday life: customers can choose from a constantly growing model portfolio of electric vehicles and a variety of innovative charging solutions. The Vienna Electric Days at Heldenplatz provide a unique overview of these topics paired with information about a sustainable, conscious lifestyle and top entertainment for the whole family.
Yesterday, Federal Minister Martin Kocher as a representative of the government and City Councilor for Finance Peter Hanke as a representative of the City of Vienna, together with Burghauptmann Reinhold Sahl and the organizers (Porsche Media & Creative), opened the largest electric mobility event in Austria, which is taking place for the fourth time in the federal capital Vienna stage goes.
Federal Minister Martin Kocher at the Vienna Electric Days: “The automotive industry contributes a significant six percent to Austria’s economic output, is a key factor for the business location and secures many high-quality jobs. The entire industry can look back on a long tradition of innovation. In view of the constantly advancing transformation from fossil fuel to sustainable drive types, many opportunities are opening up for Austrian companies, despite a competitive and challenging global environment. If we set the right incentives, support research and development and allow technology openness, we can take advantage of these opportunities and achieve the sustainability goals. The federal government is supporting the economy with 5.7 billion euros until the end of the decade as part of the climate and transformation offensive.”
City Councilor for Finance Peter Hanke at the Vienna Electric Days: “The city of Vienna is pursuing an ambitious goal: we want to become climate neutral by 2040. To achieve this, we are not only focusing on phasing out fossil fuels such as gas and oil, but also on switching to e-mobility. “E-cars that use green electricity save up to 80% of emissions over their entire life cycle compared to a conventional combustion engine,” explains Vienna City Councilor for Economics and Finance Peter Hanke. And further: “Wiener Stadtwerke is building and creating the framework to enable Vienna’s emission-free future. Wien Energie is investing around 40 million euros in the expansion of the e-charging infrastructure alone over the next five years.”
Reinhold Sahl, Austrian Castle Authority, at the Vienna Electric Days: “Like a city within a city, the Hofburg Vienna combines 700 years of Austrian history on more than 30 hectares and, with its around 90 users as well as 5,000 employees and around 25 million visitors per year, is a significant economic factor,” explains Burghauptmann Reinhold Sahl continues: “Only through the use of modern technologies can we achieve sustainable relief for the intensively used area of the Vienna Hofburg. Climate protection and sustainability – as well as the symbiosis of historical heritage and innovative technology – are of fundamental importance. This ensures efficient administration and structural support of this architectural heritage at the highest level.”
Andreas Martin, Managing Director of Porsche Media & Creative and organizer of the Vienna Electric Days: “We are pleased to welcome you to the fourth Vienna Electric Days on Vienna’s Heldenplatz. With this event we are sending a strong signal for sustainable mobility and demonstrating our commitment to climate policy. Austria’s largest e-mobility event is very relevant because it presents and discusses innovative solutions that help reduce CO₂ emissions and thus promote the change to a more environmentally friendly future. Our special thanks go to all exhibitors, media partners and employees whose dedication and commitment made this event possible. Together we are committed to a greener, more livable city.”
