In the presence of numerous guests of honor, the 30th anniversary of education was celebrated with a large ceremony. The BIM has been the central sponsoring organization for day care and holiday care in Vienna since 2019 and looks back on a success story that began in 1995 with the commissioning of the Viennese child and youth care association.
Today the BIM looks after 165 locations with over 3,200 employees and accompanies around 44,700 children. A total of 241 locations with day care at the beginning of the school year 2025/26 in Vienna. Around 50 new locations have been opened in the past five years and Vienna is therefore the leader throughout Austria.
“Three decades of day care show how forward -looking Vienna’s education policy is. An initially small project has emerged that now relieves thousands of families and opens up opportunities that go far beyond the class – be it through creativity, sports or together. This anniversary shows how much Vienna benefits when many partners work together and work together with their efforts. That our schools are places where children can grow and experience community, ”said Mayor Michael Ludwig.
“The focus of 30 years of education, which is 30 years of commitment to more opportunities for opportunities, for better reconciliation of work and family and for integration. Today we can proudly say that Vienna is a freelancer in day care. This is a success that we owe to many committed people, above all the employees of the BIM, who do an outstanding person for our children every day,” said Vice -Mayor and Bettina Bettina Emmerling in your speech.

Freight education offers give the necessary compensation to classic and support their holistic development. It makes a significant contribution to the fact that school is perceived as more than just an obligation – it becomes a place of cooperation, enables children to develop creatively and recognize their individual potential,” emphasizes Andrea Trattnig, department head of Vienna – – Schools.
The event also offered the framework to say goodbye to BIM Managing Director Mario Rieder, who will retire at the end of September. “The leisure pedagogue: The focus of the BIM- education has been in the focus for 30 years in good partnership-based cooperation with the teachers for designing schools as learning and experience spaces in which children can have a variety of experiences, even in areas with which they do not or hardly or hardly come into contact due to their family social environment, such as music and art as well as nature, movement or technology,” summarizes Managing Director Mario Rieder.

The day care for school in Vienna looks back on a long history. Already in the 1970s there were first school attempts with all-day schools. In 1993 the all -day school was included in the legal control system, in 1994/95 the takeover of the first locations followed in regular operation. A year later, in 1995, the City of Vienna commissioned the Vienna Child and Youth Supply Association with the provision of the specialist staff for leisure care. In order to secure the growing need professionally, Education was founded in 2019 at the center GmbH.
