The net overnight turnover of Viennese accommodation providers in June this year was 142.8 million euros, 20% higher than the previous year. In the first half of the year, the companies generated over half a billion euros in overnight sales. Vienna’s guest overnight stays have already been determined for July: it contributes 1.7 million (+1%) to the year to date. From January to July, around 10 million overnight stays (+9%) were counted.

Vienna closed July 2024 with 1,749,000 overnight stays and an increase of 1% compared to the same month in 2023. Between January and July, the federal capital recorded 10,040,000 overnight stays – an increase of 9% compared to the same period last year. With 326,000 overnight stays (-8%) in July, Germany leads the list of top 10 markets, followed by Austria (249,000, -7%), the USA (144,000, +24%), Italy (71,000, +12% ), Great Britain (70,000, +13%), Spain (58,000, +2%), France (45,000, -1%), Poland (56,000, +1%) and Switzerland (39,000, +8%). For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic, China made it into the list of Vienna’s markets with the highest number of overnight stays with 46,000 overnight stays (+129%).

The net overnight turnover of Vienna’s accommodation establishments was 142,822,000 euros in June – this corresponds to an increase of 20% compared to the same month in 2023. In the period from January to June, the establishments were able to generate 588,541,000 euros – 15% more than in the same period of the previous year. The average occupancy rate for rooms in July was around 76% (7/2023: around 80%), and that of hotel beds was 59.5% (7/2023: 62.2%). In the year to date (January to July), room occupancy was around 66% (1-7/2023: around 65%), bed occupancy was 51.1% (1-7/2023: 50.8%). A total of around 77,500 hotel beds were available in Vienna in July – that was 6,200 beds (+8.8%) more than were offered in the comparable month of 2023.
