Vice Mayor Kathrin Gaál: Girls’ registration for Vienna’s Daughters’ Day starts on February 12th | City vienna

This year, the MINI Daughters’ Day for girls of kindergarten age starts for the first time

Vienna (OTS) What does an aircraft technician actually do? What does the everyday life of a firefighter look like? And is artificial intelligence really that smart? On the 23rd Vienna Daughters’ Day on April 25, 2024, there will be insights into exciting professional fields.

Under the motto “It’s my Future!”, registration for the 23rd Vienna Daughters’ Day starts on February 12th. This year, the initiative enables students from the 1st grade of middle school or high school up to high school to immerse themselves in various professional fields for a day. Last year, more than 4,000 girls took part in the day of action and visited 250 companies, providing insights into technology, natural sciences, IT and crafts. Online registration for the 23rd Vienna Daughters’ Day is available on the website from February 12th, 9 a.m www.toechtertag.at possible.

“This year there is a premiere: After the KIDS Daughters’ Day for elementary school girls, we are starting with the MINI Daughters’ Day for girls of kindergarten age. Even the youngest ones can get a taste of interesting careers. “Daughters’ Day shows girls exciting professional worlds – away from outdated role models,” invites the initiator of Vienna’s Daughters’ Day, Vice Mayor and Women’s City Councilor Kathrin Gaál. And: “It’s important to me to tell girls: Be confident in anything – and go your own way!” says Gaál.

Whether insights into Viennese IT companies, craft businesses or workshops – exciting activities and practical tasks await participants at Daughter’s Day. Another thing that shouldn’t be missed: getting to know interesting women from the company and getting personal impressions of their everyday work.

Because that’s exactly what it’s all about: supporting girls on their own path and showing them the wide variety of professional opportunities in Vienna, regardless of social role stereotypes.

KIDS Daughter’s Day for elementary school students

In 2022, the KIDS Daughters’ Day took place for the first time for elementary school students in the 3rd and 4th grades and has been an integral part of Vienna’s Daughters’ Day ever since. On Daughters’ Day KIDS, elementary school classes accompanied by their teachers visit a company for around two hours and can slip into the roles of builders, technicians, researchers and many other exciting specialists as part of class excursions. 17 elementary school groups with 275 students took part in KIDS Daughters’ Day in 2023. Interested teachers can contact the Daughters’ Day office directly.

For the first time in the program: Daughter’s Day MINI for kindergarten children

This year there is a new format for a further target group: On Daughters’ Day MINI, girls in their last and penultimate year of kindergarten visit an institution or a company for around two hours, accompanied by teachers. They are shown in a playful way what exciting possibilities are open to them beyond outdated gender attributions.

Online registration for students starts on February 12th at 9 a.m

All students from the 1st grade of middle school or high school up to the Matura can take part in the Vienna Daughters’ Day, regardless of the school type. The offer applies to everyone who goes to school in Vienna, Lower Austria or Burgenland. On Daughters’ Day, the participants spend a few hours in a company – either in a Daughters’ Day company where a parent works, or in another company that they set up independently toechtertag.at choose. Since this is a school-related event, the students have no school on this day.
