VGT supports the call for a demonstration against the FPÖ chancellorship at Ballhausplatz

Orban’s regime in Hungary is viewed only positively by the right-wing scene across Europe. He has completely destroyed animal protection and civil society, brought the media into line and undermined the judiciary. Now corruption is celebrating its merry origins there. To do this, he changes the electoral system in order to maintain his absolute autocratic power. He calls it one thing illiberal Democracy. So a democracy without liberal freedoms for citizens.

Kickl has publicly portrayed Hungary as a desirable role model. With Kickl as Chancellor, we can also expect such developments in Austria. In view of the major problems at hand, democracy and animal protection need to be strengthened, not a massive threat. The FPÖ, in government with the Kurz-ÖVP, had already prepared a law according to which occupying an office and filming in animal factories would be punishable by 2 years in prison. That’s why the VGT is supporting the protest rally next Thursday at Ballhausplatz in Vienna:

VGT chairman DDr. Martin Balluch will take part personally: We have international contacts in animal protection. That’s why we know the desolate state of animal protection in dictatorships like Belarus and Russia, but also in Hungary and Turkey. The FPÖ says openly that it wants to establish an illiberal democracy in Austria, like in Hungary. You can see what that means in Salzburg. An FPÖ leader, Svazek, who is running amok, is illegally releasing thousands of protected animals for shooting and is dismantling the environmental advocacy group that could have taken legal action against it. She proved what a spiritual child Svazek is when she personally came to VGT rallies against gate hunting and loudly shouted ‘Waidmann’s salvation’ with her right arm outstretched. Not unlike the frightening crudeness of those criminal Nazis of the Third Reich who founded Svazek’s party.

Human chain against FPÖ chancellorship

Various NGOs from Austria are forming a human chain to protest against a possible chancellorship by the FPÖ.
