Vantage Foundation works with Hands of Hope Laos to promote deaf children through inclusive education

Many deaf children in Laos cannot go to school because they are discriminated against because there is a lack of qualified teachers who are trained in deaf pedagogy or sign language, and because they cannot pay the school fees. The Hands of Hope School for the Deaf was founded in 2010 by Saphaphone Heuanglith who wanted to offer the deaf young people in Laos education and opportunities.

The goal of Hands of Hope is to convey academic and professional skills to these students so that they can take care of themselves and make a contribution to society. The school offers a supportive environment and provides you with free education, accommodation, meals and medical care. There is no barriers in this beneficial environment – only connection and acceptance. The children live, learn, eat and grow together and not only develop language skills, but also a feeling of belonging, trust and social connection.

Die Vantage Foundation met with Saphaphone Heuanglith, the founder of Hands of Hope Laos, to discuss the commitment of the organization for the support and promotion of these children who suffered from society. In recognition of the sensible work of Hands of Hope Laos, the Vantage Foundation hopes to raise awareness of the needs and the potential of deaf children and thus create an inclusive opportunity to support the deaf community.

“Every child deserves to be seen, heard and valued,” said Saphaphone Heuanglith, founder of Hands of Hope Laos. “At our school we not only teach language – we help our students to discover their voice, self -confidence and their place in the world.”

“Hands of Hope stands for the kind of effect that we want to support with the Vantage Foundation,” added Steven Xie, managing director of the Vantage Foundation. “We are proud to support Saphaphone and their team to reduce barriers and create permanent opportunities for these children.”

This collaboration reflects the continuous mission of the Vantage Foundation to support the sub -supplied communities for inclusive initiatives. By investing in education and qualification, we hope to create a fairer future – a future in which every child, regardless of his skills, has the chance of success.
