Vienna (OTS) – VAMED, a leading global provider of services to hospitals and other healthcare facilities, announces the agreement to sell the majority of its post-acute business (specifically rehabilitation business) to PAI Partners (“PAI”). The proposed transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions and is expected to close in the second half of 2024. PAI is to become the majority owner with 67 percent of the business, which will be combined into a new, independent company under the PAI umbrella. VAMED majority shareholder Fresenius will hold 33 percent.
Klaus Schuster, CEO of VAMED: “Under the PAI umbrella, we see a promising future for VAMED’s post-acute business, which currently has locations in five European countries. The independence enables full focus on the targeted further development of this business area.”
As majority owner, PAI will drive forward the business activities. Service orientation, best treatment results and positioning as an attractive employer for employees will continue to be the focus.
PAI is an international private equity firm based in France that invests in market-leading companies worldwide. She has extensive experience in the healthcare services sector. As an independent company, the post-acute business will benefit from PAI’s extensive expertise in the field of healthcare services. An example is Veonet, the leading pan-European network of eye clinics.
This post-acute business area includes a total of 67 facilities with around 9,100 beds and around 9,500 (FTE) employees in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Great Britain. These care for patients in the areas of acute medical, rehabilitative and nursing care.
