Ingrid Korosec, President of the Austrian Senior Association, welcomes the expansion of the free vaccination program to belt rose and pneumococci from the end of 2025 as an important success for the health of older people in Austria:
“It is finally implemented what we have been demanding as a senior citizens’ association for years: a low -threshold and free access to vaccinations that are vital for older people.”
The decision to enable people aged 60 and over free protection against shingles and pneumococci are an important step towards prevention and socially just health care from the perspective of the senior citizens’ association.
“Health care must not be a question of income. Not only protect vaccinations individually, they also relieve the health system-a classic win-win situation”so Korosec further.
Finally emphasized Korosec: “We will continue to work to ensure that prevention and health care are top priority, especially in old age. This decision shows that persistence pays off – in the interests of all the elderly in our country.”
