Yesterday, Saturday, October 26, 2024, the ORF once again delivered the red-white-red TV highlight on ORF 2 and on ORF ON: The traditional search for the most beautiful place of the year took place with the eleventh edition of “9 Places – 9 Treasures” live again on the ORF program on this year’s national holiday, where the audience and the prominent jury visited the Gadauner Gorge in Salzburg – a wildly romantic gorge in Bad Hofgastein, which has been one of the state’s registered natural monuments since 1978 Winner chosen.
After Styria (Green Lake), Vorarlberg (Formarinsee / Rote Wand), Tyrol (Kaisertal), Vorarlberg again (Körbersee), the Schiederweiher (Upper Austria), the Lünersee (Vorarlberg), the Strutz-Mühle (Styria), the Wiegensee (Vorarlberg), the Friedenskircherl am Stoderzinken (Styria) and most recently Landskron Castle in Carinthia, the 2024 winner of “9 Places – 9 Treasures” comes from Salzburg for the first time: the Gadauner Gorge beat yesterday, October 26th other candidates. Second place went to Lower Austria, which was represented this year by Maria Taferl, and third place went to the Giglachseen in Styria. Up to 902,000 viewers did not miss the show, with an average of 823,000 watching live via ORF 2 with a 35 percent market share (24 percent for 12-29 and 21 percent for 12-49). This is the second highest market share since the launch of the successful ORF format.

There is an “extension” of the “9 Places – 9 Treasures” evening today, Sunday, October 27th: ORF 2 and ORF ON will show “Austria is so beautiful” at 3:40 p.m. Armin Assinger reports from the Austrian National Library and once again presents all 27 places and places that the federal states had entered into the competition – so that the whole of Austria not only gets to know the nine state winners, but also all the hidden treasures in 2024.
