UNICEF and YOMA – Digital Opportunity platform for the generation of tomorrow

Vienna (OTS) –

Africa faces a double challenge: On the one hand, the continent grows rapidly, on the other hand, millions of young people are denied access to work, education and perspectives. Over 60 % of unemployed people in Africa are under 25 years old – and yet in this generation there is the potential to create solutions for their communities and the planets.

Yoma (Youth Agency Marketplace) is the answer to this challenge. The digital platform developed by Unicef and partners accompanies young people from “Learning to earn” (“Learning to earning”). Young people acquire future -related skills about practical learning offers, innovative digital challenges and personal development tasks – and thus open doors to jobs, entrepreneurship and social commitment.

Diverse possibilities, real effect

Yoma covers central future fields: Environmental & climate protectione.g. B. through programs like Enviro-Champs; Digital skills & tech trainingz. B. an der African Drone & Data Academy (Adda); Entrepreneurship & job preparation; Social engagement & community projects

About so -called Impact Tasks -From environmental protection campaigns to social innovation labs to micro-entrepreneur training-the participants collect digital tokens. These can be redeemed against educational offers, courses or mobile phone credit. At the same time, there is a verifiable digital curriculum vitae – an innovative springboard in the professional world.

Measurable success

50,000 registered young people on the Yoma platform, over 465,000 young people reached the world, 67,000 completed impact challenges, 8 million distributed tokens (value:> $ 190,000), more than 13,000 verified certificates and over 164,000 learning hours are just a few examples of the success of the platform.

From theory to practice
Yoma changed life: So take care Enviro-Champs in South Africa for clean water by monitoring rivers, reporting dirt and completing your schooling at the same time. Young people learn the latest drone technologies at the Adda – and secure such popular competencies for the working world of tomorrow.

Future vision
Yoma wants to expand its reach and be firmly anchored in over 15 countries by 2030 – as a motor for self -determination, education and sustainable development.

Commitment of Austrian partners: Unicef Austria is specifically promoting

UNICEF Austria takes on a central role in the Yoma platform and supports two pioneering projects: the African Drone & Data Academy (Adda) in Malawi and Enviro Champs in South Africa. These initiatives open up a unique opportunity to position themselves as a responsible partner, actively help shape sustainable perspectives and work together on a more stable, sustainable world.
