IIn the process of preparing the state exhibition in 2026, the Ulmerfeld Castle, a high medieval castle complex, is renovated and modernized in Amstetten. Ulmerfeld Castle, owned by the municipality of Amstetten for 50 years, is modernized by targeted structural measures such as the creation of a barrier -free access on the ground floor, a flexible umbrella system for the temporary roofing of the inner courtyard, a new emergency exit and barrier -free sanitary facilities more attractive for visitors and visitors.
At the initiative of Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the Lower Austrian state government decided to support the attractiveness of Ulmerfeld Castle in the amount of 91,250 euros. “With the environmental projects around the Lower Austrian state exhibition 2026, we make the Mostviertel re-experienced in a variety of ways- in its history, culture, culinary and tourist diversity. Through targeted structural measures and the new exhibition, Castle Ulmerfeld becomes a lively place of encounter, which conveys the cultural and natural area of Mostviertel in a special way and thus represents an important step for the best future of our children,” emphasizes the government Johanna, “emphasizes Mikl-Leitner.
In addition to other projects such as the construction of the experience world in Tierpark Haag, the attractiveness and modernization of Ulmerfeld Castle is one of the environmental projects of the Lower Austria state exhibition “When the world is head. Man. Psyche. Health”, which takes place from March 28 to November 8, 2026 in Amstetten-Wall. Ulmerfeld Castle will accommodate the exhibition “How Nature affects our psyche” based on the Lower Austrian State Exhibition in Amstetten-Wall and to the nearby Ybbsfeld-Forstheide landscape protection area. At the center of the show will be the regional peculiarities: from the history of the castle, over the natural area in the Mostviertel with a focus on the Forstheide and the variety of flora and fauna, including the variety of varieties and biodiversity in the Mostviertel, to the typical regional specialties.
The Lower Austrian state exhibitions contribute significantly to the further development and upgrade of the regions, so that they also benefit from the country’s investments in the long term.
