The UKH Linz presents a significant innovation in surgery – the new heel legist, develops to optimize the treatment of heel fractures. This medical progress is the result of years of intensive research and development and marks a milestone in the standardization of complex surgical interventions.
The development of the distributor began eight years ago at the UKH Linz, through the initiative of Dr. Christian Rodemund, an expert in the field of heel fracture supply and a member of the Auva family for over 38 years. The development time included extensive laboratory tests, prototype development and a strict approval process that has been successfully completed in the past two years.
Standardization as the key to medical innovation
The distributor was developed to enable a comprehensive standardization of the surgical method in order to improve the efficiency and the results of the heel fracture supply. The technology is an essential part of a comprehensive minimally invasive treatment concept that offers significant advantages for patients: inside and has already been successfully implemented in various hospitals throughout Austria.
“I am convinced of the efficiency and the potential of this new distribution. Our tests have shown that it offers essential technical improvements in operational care. It was important to us to optimize every process step and establish a structured procedure.”
Explained Prim. Dr. Georg Mattiassich (medical director of the UKH Linz)
The heel legist is the result of a cooperative development initiative of the UKH Linz and PMU Innovations GmbH, the innovation laboratory of the PMU Salzburg. The implementation of the approved medical device was made possible by the Swiss company 41Medical. Especially through the financial support of the AUVA in the early phase of the idea, the distributor was ultimately able to master the way to clinical application.
Experiences and success stories
After a severe rubble fracture of the heel leg, Christoph Speiser was initially considered not operable – a diagnosis that gave little hope. Only through the specialized minimally invasive methodology and the outstanding expertise at the UKH Linz became an operation. Today he is pain -free, back in everyday life – and wants to make the treatment method better known out of personal drive in order to give courage to other affected people. The high return rates in professional and sporting activities after treatment are remarkable and have been confirmed by numerous studies. “”Without the concentrated expertise at the UKH Linz, my pain -free life would not be possible today.. ” emphasizes patient Christoph Speiser.
The commitment of the UKH Linz and AUVA to set new standards in traumatology not only revolutionized treatment options, but also patient: to live painlessly again inside. “With this initiative, modern standards in medical care and rehabilitation are set, which brings enormous relief to many people.”
says Mag.a Maria Lesterl, director of the Auva state office Linz.
